As a lifelong educator, I have spent the past 40+ years dedicated to inspiring a love of learning in students. For more than 25 of those years, I have been sharing how to teach writing using the Traits of Writing Model with fellow teachers in the US, as well as internationally.
Not only are the Traits an assessment model, but they are also a powerful instructional tool.

Throughout the years, this work has been fine-tuned to provide a strong foundation for teaching writing and assessing student progress. The traits are not an educational “fad,” nor are they “out of style.” They are timeless: good writing will always have a strong idea, be well organized, have an appropriate voice, contain good word choice, have fluent sentences, and use the conventions of our language.

Our lives as teachers have changed greatly these past few years. More teachers are interested in Professional Development that looks different than it did a decade, or more, ago.
It is my hope to continue inspiring teachers to learn more about the traits of writing and use them in their teaching by providing online options.
